Fire Management on Doyon Lands
Wildfire suppression on Alaska Native corporation lands is provided by the Alaska
Fire Service (AFS) branch of the Bureau of Land Management. The assigned protection levels aid the AFS in
prioritizing fire suppression activities during each fire season. These assigned protection levels are kept
in a map atlas by AFS at the Fort Wainwright offices and are updated as desired protection levels change over time.

It is the responsibility of the landowner to ensure that the AFS is aware of their fire management needs and
desires. A copy of the Alaska Interagency Wildland Fire Management Plan is available in .pdf format at
fire.ak.blm.gov.
