Daaga’ Awards
The deadline for proposals for the current cycle of the Daaga’ Awards has now passed.
Information on this year’s recipients may be found in the June Doyon newsletter.
Since 1990 Doyon, Limited has awarded more than $100,000 in Daaga’ funding to Interior
Native individuals and organizations to promote drug and alcohol-free communities.
Daaga’ proposals should encompass the following tenets:
- The source of healing lies in the ability of local people to help themselves.
- The strength of our traditional values to focus on a healthy vision for the future
and for our communities should be utilized.
- It takes teamwork to promote programs that integrate the spiritual, social and
economic needs of our people.
The deadline to submit a proposal for Daaga’ funding was Monday, April 26, 2010
at 5 p.m. Interior Native communities and individual shareholders are eligible to
apply.
Awards are limited, and may be granted up to $1,500 per funding period. Depending
on the number of proposals received and the need, the selected proposals may not
always be funded for the full amount requested. For this reason, Daaga’ should be
considered a supplement to the funding for a project. Daaga’ was created to be a
start up resource; therefore priority will be given to new proposals.
Applications were mailed to all village council offices and were available on the
Doyon, Limited website at www.doyon.com.
